Over the past few seasons, I noticed that straw, rattan, raffia, and caning have made a huge comeback. It’s a little preppy, a little boho, and super easy to wear. The neutral color and structured shape of this natural material lends itself to a million looks.
This summer you’ll catch me in a straw hat or visor (you remember my visor obsession!) and these super fun Robert Clergerie flatform sandals. Honestly, I love wearing these because I’m 5”2 and they give me a boost. Plus, they are really comfortable for all day walking on Abbot Kinney and can transition to an evening look too. I especially love pairing them with a short-all or a maxi skirt. It makes for a sporty and kicky look.
Remember how I said straw could read really preppy? Well I think that it can be preppy and kinda quirky too. I love this Serpui Marie fish bag with metal chain. It’s so country club but looks rather modern and pop when paired with raffia slides from Sam Edelman and a sunny Rhodes wrap dress.
And if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary, there’s this Clare V poppy red straw top handle that’s a riff off of the more common beige colorway.
Best part is that this natural material really holds its shape and looks good season after season so it’s something super easy to keep on a seasonal rotation—a surefire classic to keep coming back to.
