Birkenstocks are a perennial classic. They’re not just for your ceramics teacher from high school or the tourist trudging around the big city. Birks are for every day and can be dressed up or down. What was once considered an ’earth shoe’ and only came in hues of beige, tan, and black, has morphed into a cacophony of colors and styles to suit tons of personalities. I have SO many pairs of Birkenstocks and swear by them all year round.
I prefer the classic two-strap Arizona or the cloggy Boston and pair them with socks, dresses, shorts, jeans…whatever! With metallics, neons, faux fur/shearling, and lots of limited-edition collabs (hello Rick Owens!!), the selection is literally endless. I even put my name on the Birkenstock alert list at matches.com and I always end up buying 1 or 2 new pairs a season. They are so comfortable right out of the gate and honestly, I never have to worry about blisters or breaking them in. They wear like iron and can be cleaned up in a pinch which makes them even more of a no brainer. For my next pair, I may try the Olsen twin preferred Gizeh or maybe the three-strap Florida. Wild!
They literally only have 2 Birkenstock stores in all of the US and one just opened in Venice on Abbot Kinney. Since that is totally my neck of the woods you better bet that I’ll be lining up Supreme style to get my hands on the latest cork classics.
