COTTON: THE FABRIC OF MY LIFE

My hunt for the perfect summer cotton dress is never ending! In my book, the ideal summer dress has to do double duty. For instance, it has to take me from morning errands to the beach but can’t look like a coverup, and of course it must be causal and lightweight, never clingy. I have found myself slipping on these few dresses over and over again.

This color block number is from Staud and I love the crisp, cotton poplin material. This Mes Demoiselles gauzy cotton dress, I bought several years ago at a beach club in Saint Tropez. The green leopard deep V-neck is from Poupette which I paired with sneakers and a small Fendi bucket bag so I can always be hands free. Here’s to enjoying the next several months out of our beloved sweat pants and into the next best thing, cozy cotton summer dresses!

Those early decades all featured the high-waisted flare (which I personally prefer), while the early 00s specialized in the low-waisted style which feels a little passé. I recently pulled out my flare jeans and was reminded how much they elongate the leg and look great with a heel.
