Long Live Linen

Linen is the easiest, breeziest thing to slip on in the summertime. I don’t even care that it can look wrinkled either! It adds to the casual beach rumple that I look forward to every season.

RACHEL PALLY Rocco Linen Jumpsuit

However, this linen jumpsuit from Rachel Pally kinda defies the odds. It basically does not crease, looks pulled together, and leans you out. Plus, it comes in this perfect summer cream color that I adore.

I also love this simple striped linen shirt that I tuck into or waist-tie with a pair of paper bag shorts. Here’s my styling trick: I scrunch up, then tuck and fold the sleeves when I am working in the kitchen or garden and also unbutton it pretty low to reveal my necklaces or a peek of a bralette—this way it does not look like the volume of the shirt is swallowing me up.

Lastly, if I have to make it to a (Zoom) meeting (i.e. the top half of my top body needs to look like I mean business) then I throw on this baby blue blazer from Sablyn with a chunky chain.

Linen is soft on the skin, breathable, and makes you feel floaty on even the hottest of days.

Show me your Flare

We’ve been mom jean-ing for a few seasons now and I am feeling like it’s time for some FLARE again. Flares originated in the 60s / 70’s, took flight in the 80s, and definitely made an appearance in the early aughts. Those early decades all featured the high-waisted flare (which I personally prefer), while the early 00s specialized in the low-waisted style which feels a little passé. I recently pulled out my flare jeans and was reminded how much they elongate the leg and look great with a heel.
