Pearl Power

ZOE CHICCO 14K Gold Pearl & Diamond Bypass Ring

Like Prince sang, “If I gave you diamonds and pearls, would you be a happy boy or a girl??”—the answer to that question is a resounding YES! Growing up, I always saw my grandmother in her statement pearls. Whether it was a pair of stud earrings, a doubled up strand around her neck, or a dainty ring, she made sure to regularly incorporate them into her accessory rotation.

Back in the day women used to reserve their pearls for a special occasion or when they wanted to feel pulled together and proper. But now, pearls seem to be popping up in a casual, louche way that screams Jane Birkin cool and preppy all at the same time. There are pearl adorned hair clips, bags, shoes, even this sexy 70s-esque tank from Donni.

Designers like Pearl Collective and State Property have modernized an otherwise staid classic by adding spikes and unique settings to toughen it up. Maya Brenner and Zoe Chicco have added their own twists too and I love these feminine earrings and rings that can be worn everyday.

STATE PROPERTY Inversion Earrings

Pearls add texture and depth to that stack of fine gold chains that I know you wear everyday so I encourage you to look in your jewelry box, find your strand from 8thgrade, and give it a whirl!
