Sunny Situation

It goes without saying that sunglasses are a Particulars favorite. I am definitely not a minimalist when it comes to my eyewear. I switch up styles and colors really often because it’s such an easy way to augment a look. Now my sunnies stand out even more because I try to wear pairs that compliment my face masks. Big look!

Another thing that I have been doing is putting my sunglasses on a chain to let them dangle around my neck. I wrote a blog about sunglass chains back in 2018, check it out! Not only does it help me keep track of them and not stretch them out by perching them on my head, but it also helps them to not get tangled up in the mask loops.

Lastly, I am a firm believer in a reasonably-priced sunglass. Truthfully, since I am always at the beach or in the pool, I am hard on my eyewear. I don’t want to have to worry about them being too precious. Pictured here are some of my favorites. Naturally, some practically priced pairs are in the mix too.

1)     The white and tortoise pairs are both Free People and are not crazy expensive. They offer a big look and are not flimsy.

2)     The aviators are Quay, a super affordable, and really fun Australian brand.

3)     The rose-colored lenses are vintage Christian Dior, notably from my grandmother.

Show me your Flare

We’ve been mom jean-ing for a few seasons now and I am feeling like it’s time for some FLARE again. Flares originated in the 60s / 70’s, took flight in the 80s, and definitely made an appearance in the early aughts. Those early decades all featured the high-waisted flare (which I personally prefer), while the early 00s specialized in the low-waisted style which feels a little passé. I recently pulled out my flare jeans and was reminded how much they elongate the leg and look great with a heel.

When she decided to open her first store in 1999 in Los Angeles, Elyse Walker set out to create a retail experience that prided itself on impeccable customer service and superb selection. She wanted to create a store that harkened back to the places of business that she loved while growing up on the east coast—places that were simply known by the proprietors first or last name and that were always synonymous with a choice shopping experience.
