Things and brands I am loving right now!

After a big shopping drought during quarantine I have officially let the floodgates open. I’ve been on a tear and am discovering so many amazing brands and products from Black-owned businesses that I am eager to share with you. Here’s my latest haul:

Brother Vellies:

I know that I may not be venturing out to go on an official date or dinner anytime soon but I could not resist this rattan Nusa Clutch from Brother Vellies. I like how you can peep through the holes a little bit and peek inside the purse.

I also ordered a few pairs of the Cloud socks which look delicious to pad around the house in.

Goodee is a mission-based marketplace with a platform centered around talented artisans making beautiful things and consumers looking to make a difference with their purchases. They sell an eclectic mix of accessories and homegoods that are handmade and colorful and totally not run of the mill.

I scooped up the Bassi Market Tote and know that it will be on my shoulder at the beach and farmer’s market all summer long.

I have loved this brand for the last 10 years. Founded by Supermodel Liya Kebede, lemlem is an artisan-driven collection of women’s, men’s, children’s and home goods made entirely in Africa. This brand is my go to for swimsuit cover ups or just cozy cotton basics for any summer adventure. I will be living in my cover up and wraps this summer.

Third Crown:

We just featured Brooklyn-based jewelry design duo Third Crown on the site and I am so excited to wear their signature Arc choker. It is so cool and different and Beyoncé approved—obviously I am sold.

 Play Pits:

Guys, my 10-year old  son is starting to smell! He totally has BO and this all-natural deodorant for kids from Play Pits is going to be a life saver. Play Pits is helmed by a mother and son duo and I can’t think of a better pair to provide sweet relief to moms who need their cars not to smell like locker rooms.

1988 Fragrance and Candle Co.:

Speaking of smelling good, I ordered this Creamy Body Butter from the 1988 Fragrance and Candle Co. So now, between Jack’s pits and my skin, our family will be a breath of fresh air!

Chatting with Alana Oates of Llani

We never met a jazzy, comfortable flat shoe that we didn’t love. So that’s why we are pleased as punch to introduce you to Llani, a collection of divine slides, slippers, Babouches, and sandals that are intricately embellished in India in small, fair- wage, family-run factories, and have serious style for (walking) miles.

Chatting with Sydney Ziems

When a designer says that she is curating for “a modern-day Jane Eyre with a dash of Fran Drescher,” then we know that we are literally kindred spirits. Sydney Ziems, founder of Serendipitous Projects is a bright, shining light. She’s combines her curious, vivacious nature with her creative know-how which ultimately translates into a line that is an absolute original. Drawing from her love of the water (she’s a Pisces, natch!), Ziems has created an ocean-inspired collection for summer that feels equally at home in NYC as it does on the streets of Palm Beach.
