Particulars Picks: Travel Edition Aspen

Aspen is magic. The skiing is beyond and the town is the best to bop around. It offers luxury retreats, impeccable dining, and city-chic shopping with a mountain edge. Here are some of my go-to spots.

Little Nell, a luxurious modern mountain hotel, sits at the base of Aspen Mountain and offers the best for people watching in the bar / lounge area if you are able to snag a table.

The historic Hotel Jerome is located on Main Street and has interiors from famed interior designer Todd-Avery Lenahan—the hotel is filled with contemporary art and modern furnishings, it’s a showstopper! If you can grab a seat at the J-Bar, be sure to order the burger, it never disappoints.

W Hotel is the newest hotel in Aspen and is such a departure from the regular mountain-y style hotels. It’s filled with color, vibrant art, and has a rooftop bar and deck so you can take in the mountains while enjoying an après ski cocktail. Grab a few friends and stay in one of the quad bunk rooms…yes you heard me…that’s a room with double bunk beds. Yes please!

O2 Life is the best for all things athleisure as well staples like The Great, Raquel Allegra and Chianti and Parker. This multi-level space also offers facials and massages so it’s basically my dream spot. Hands down it was the best massage of my life. Upstairs they have yoga and Pilates classes to round out their offerings.

MAX is a luxury boutique that has all of the best brands: The Row, Celine, Proenza Schouler, Bottega Venetta…etc. Chic never sleeps in Aspen!

Pitkin County Dry Goods is literally the mecca for menswear and womenswear and is Aspen’s “original clothing store.” It’s the best place to treat yourself or find an epic gift. They have everything from jewelry to denim to candles. It’s a legit a one stop shop.

Performance Ski has all of the best ski brands and ski-related accessories. I feel like an Olympian every time I leave this place.

Paradise Bakery is literally my first stop in town to get a hot chocolate chip cookie or snickerdoodle. This place is my sugar high!

Gorsuch Cafe  has awesome breakfast burritos. Best spot to fuel up before a morning of skiing or snowshoeing.

Bear Den is perfection for coffee and all things fresh and sugary including to-die-for cinnamon rolls.

Ajax Tavern has my favorite order: an Aperol Spritz and truffle fries. Plus, it is a MUST for Vegans with the best cauliflower gratin and a great vegan mac and cheese.

Sam’s on Snowmass is a luxury Italian dining experience on Snowmass, it’s so yummy!

Espresso Martinis at Campo De Fiori are a must.

We love to bike ride on the Rio Grande to Woody Creek Tavern for lunch. They have the best margaritas and enchiladas.

Pine Creek Cookhouse is perfect for an out-of-town lunch experience and it’s great with kids or adults. In the winter you can cross country ski, hike, or a take a horse-drawn sleigh to a log cabin that has simply amazing food.

Particulars Picks: Top 5 Clogs

Like stripes and tie dye, clogs are one of those things that I think never really go out of style. They phase in and out but I always keep them in my closet because they eventually circle back around. From neutrals to neon, here are some of my favorite pairs.

Chatting with Rachel Zeilic

Finally I got to sit down and chat with designer, digital creative, and entrepreneur, Rachel Zeilic. Rachel was actually scheduled to be interviewed by The Particulars in March of 2020 but then the whole world shut down. A year later and Rachel’s used her time wisely (not just baking bread and giving herself haircuts) but actually incubating a new brand, Augie, as well as a new baby! Augie will be a go-to resource for curious moms as well as a space for women to learn and grow—we could all use that for sure.
