More from Lauren:
How did you get involved in the Goldfaden company business and how did you realize it had the potential to be a global brand?
Health and wellness have always been a huge part of my life. I firmly believe that beauty, particularly through products, serves as an extension of our overall well-being, influencing our preferences and choices. I am dedicated to embracing what I term "naturally conscious" living across various aspects of my life, encompassing beauty products, household cleaners, diet, and exercise.
When I first met my husband, Rob, he handed me this exfoliator in a lab sample jar and said “Would you try this, I am thinking about starting a skincare brand, and this would be our lead product.” Falling in love, initially with the scrub and later with him, I envisioned the potential for an entire skincare line—Dermatologist-developed, clinically proven, and naturally formulated.
Successfully bridging the divide between natural luxury and the effectiveness of dermatologist-formulated skincare, Goldfaden MD fills a notable void in the beauty industry. It directly addresses the growing consumer demand for clean products of the utmost quality that authentically deliver their promised benefits. In essence, Goldfaden MD streamlines the quest for a naturally radiant and healthy complexion, upholding standards of effectiveness and purity without compromise.
How do you feel about the recent trend of young girls becoming obsessed with skincare / spending their time and money at Sephora?
While there can be positive aspects to the increased interest in self-care and skincare routines among young people, it’s crucial to approach this trend with caution.
On one hand, dedicating time and effort to a skincare routine, along with developing knowledge and appreciation for makeup, can foster good hygiene habits and instill an understanding of the importance of skincare. It can also serve as a fun means for young girls to express themselves and explore their personal style.
However, it's essential to ensure that these young individuals don't become excessively fixated on their appearance or fall prey to the consumerism prevalent in the beauty industry. The notion that physical perfection is the ultimate goal can be detrimental to their self-esteem, fostering unrealistic expectations about their looks.
Parents play a pivotal role in having open conversations with their daughters about the significance of inner beauty, self-love, and acceptance. It's important to encourage informed decision-making regarding skincare products, emphasizing the value of making thoughtful choices rather than succumbing to the allure of every trend showcased on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. This includes imparting education on how and when to use these products and promoting a mindful approach to consumption.
Related - Goldfaden MD isn’t the only skincare brand you’ve founded. Talk to us about Mini Bloom!
Mini Bloom was initially created out of a personal need – a desire for a stable, natural product suitable for my newborn. Recognizing the self-regulated nature of the beauty industry, I sought to establish a line that I could wholeheartedly trust. Over the past five years, I dedicated myself to the meticulous processes of formulation, testing, and certification to develop the cleanest, most skin-friendly products for both you and your baby. Mini Bloom has been my most extended "pregnancy" to date! Each Mini Bloom product is crafted from natural, organic-derived ingredients, consciously cultivated and sustainably sourced. This commitment is not only for the benefit of the skin but also to align with our clean standards: ingredient transparency, accountability, and quality assurance. Mini Bloom has strategically partnered with manufacturers and supply chain partners adhering to rigorous sustainable quality-control standards. This approach allows us to quantify our environmental impact and actively work towards reducing overall resource consumption. I take pride in what we have achieved and in the quality we provide to parents worldwide.
Who are a few women entrepreneurs you look up to? Whose careers and businesses do you love to follow?
There are so many inspiring women entrepreneurs to admire. Any woman in business, whether it’s running a business or launching their own brand is admirable. It’s hard work, endless hours, total determination and sacrifices. That said, here are a few of my favorites:
Oprah Winfrey: She’s a media mogul who built an empire and continues to use her platform to promote education and empowerment.
Sheryl Sandberg: As the COO of Facebook and author of the book “Lean In,” Sheryl has inspired many women to take on leadership roles and seek out positions of power in male-dominated industries.
Sara Eisen: An anchor on CNBC, Sara is a fantastic role model for young women interested in finance and business reporting.
I think all of these women are incredible examples of what can be achieved through hard work, determination, and a willingness to take risks.
What are a few women-founded businesses you have your eye on right now?
Spanx: Sara Blakely is a great example of how creativity and a solution-oriented mindset can lead to a billion-dollar business idea and is constantly coming out with new products and innovative ideas.
Outdoor Voices: Outdoor Voices was founded by Tyler Haney with the goal of creating functional yet stylish activewear for women. The company has developed a strong following of women who love their clothing for both workouts and everyday wear.
