Danielle Fichera’s resort wear makes us want to pack a bag and hop the next flight to the South of France immediately. But alas, we will have to settle for donning one of her poppy emblazoned dresses and sitting outside on our deck—wistfully pretending that we’re sipping something refreshing in a foreign land. Danielle’s fresh prints on her fine cotton separates just beg for the long, languid days of summer, strolling, exploring, and moving where the breeze takes you.

Q:  Things are a little different right now, we’re in an unprecedented time…where are you getting inspiration from and how are you staying motivated these days?

A: I am getting a lot of inspiration from IG. I am finding it is inspiring to see how others are keeping busy and making the most of this time. I am trying not to expect too much from myself and trying to just take it one day at a time. My mantra has become, “Everyday kept inside, is one day closer to going out.”

Q: Speaking of…you’re definitely the right person to ask this question—what are you wearing during quarantine?? What’s your daily uniform?

A: I am a creature of habit, and that is evident in my quarantine uniform. I am wearing white James Perse sweatpants and a long sleeves white Vince t-shirt. I have about 5 sets and change in the morning and before going to bed. Wearing head to toe white feels right at this moment. If I get cold, I put on a favorite grey Anine Bing sweatshirt.

Q: Your collection is such perfection for spring / summer—it just makes us want to escape. How do you come up with your distinctive prints?

A: My collection is inspired by nature, and therefore I felt it was only right to create the clothes in such a way that protects nature – by being fully sustainable. I also have partnered with Albini Fabrics in Italy, that have been key in the creation of our fabrics.

Q: What are some of your daily particulars that you always put on (jewelry, accessories…etc.)?

A: I am always with my gold Cartier Solo Tank watch, Jennifer Creel gold charms and rings, Clare V Attache Leopard handbag in the winter or one of her straw handbags in the summer, D. Portault handkerchief, iPhone and Tom Ford’s Pink Tease lipstick.

Q: What are your travel particulars?

A: I am pretty easy when it comes to traveling. I am not a fan of winter sports, so I tend to steer away from ski trips. However, I love to explore and am incredibly curious, so I am usually happy anywhere I go.

Q: With summer on the horizon, what’s next for you?

A: I had plans to go to France this summer, but due to the coronavirus I had to cancel it. I hope to see some much-missed friends and spend time finishing my new collection at work.

Knock Around Togs

Even if I am spending most of my time at home and on the couch (nursing my hip back to health after surgery), I still like to feel like I have a modicum of style. It may sound super basic, but it definitely lifts my spirits to wear things that are cheerful and chic. That said, I have found a few good bets that help elevate my casual and take my “knock around togs” (what I call my weekend wardrobe) to a new level. For my knock-around wear during the fall I find myself sticking to a sportier (Spice) theme and find that playful and color-centric separates work best.

Chatting with Erin Sachse of Eriness Jewelry

Throughout her career, Erin Sachse of Eriness jewelry has imbued her work with meaning vis-à-vis symbols and small icons. Her most recent symbolic iterations include her “Resist” and “Ladybug” collections. Eriness’ “Resist” is most definitely a range that is inspired-by and tailor-made for these times, and the Ladybug collection is an homage to Erin’s late mother and its path into existence includes a vivid dream and real touchstones from the sky and beyond.

Matchy Matchy

With very few places to go, it’s difficult to commit the brain power and big styling energy into figuring out a legit ensemble. However, on the flip side, it is also a drag to feel and look sloppy—I am really trying to find that balance. A solution to this conundrum is embracing the matching set. It goes beyond simply wearing a monochromatic look.
