More from Marina:

Since launching in 20202, Larroudé has created collections in partnership with several really fun brands. Most recently, you released a whimsical collection of flowered mules with artist Gabriela Noelle. (And… We’re obsessed with it.) What do you find you’re able to get out of collaborations like these with like-minded creatives?
Larroudé is this crazy platform that has hosted many other amazing designers and friends that we’ve been lucky enough to partner with, like Oscar de la Renta, Joseph Altuzarra, Jennifer Fisher, Jonathan Cohen, Markarian, Favorite Daughter, and many others.  In addition to being a brand, Larroude is almost like a record label or platform where we get to host so many other great creatives. It goes right back to our slogan: You. Us. We. All. I love my collaborations, and so do our customers. I love to run their dreams into reality.
As a longtime Fashion Director at Barneys, you’ve gotten to see the fashion industry from a few different perspectives. What surprised you most about the experience of starting your own brand?
I was expecting to sell lots of black shoes, that was what the market has shown me previously but what I experienced at Larroudé is the very opposite. clients come to us for color, print and emotional pieces.
DTC brands are famous for using brightly-colored products to draw new customers in, but it’s pretty rare for buyers to spring for styles outside of their usual palettes. Larroudé’s collection includes a lot of real color! How are you convincing customers to give color a try?
That’s the story of Larroudé. We don’t play it safe, that’s how we started! I believe fashion is here to bring fantasy to everyday’s life. And our customer responds exactly to that. We look at data and sales performance on a daily basis, and we produce more of what the customers want, reducing excess inventory and producing only what we sell/can sell. We prove daily that the customer wants something special, that’s pretty good to watch.
We certainly have our favorites, but we’re curious which of the pieces in your collection you personally wear on a day-to-day basis?
The ones I wear the most lately are: Blair flats, Blair Mules, Ines Pump, Altuzarra Pumps and Milan sandals.
